What Counselling Is Like With Kate
Kate is relational, warm and understands that trust is a key component to therapeutic relationships. Counselling with Kate moves at your pace, exploring themes and topics as you feel ready to do so.
Kate approaches your story with curiosity and acceptance knowing that each person’s world is uniquely theirs. She seeks to understand what is important to you and how that impacts the way you think about and move in your life. Kate enjoys helping clients understand how their internal beliefs and values impact their external behaviour and communication styles in relationships.
Kate’s Approach to Counselling
Kate’s approach is person-centered, grounded in a belief that counselling helps us access tools and knowledge that we already carry within ourselves. She hopes all her clients feel seen and included in a collaborative and relational counselling experience. Kate works with a trauma-informed lens, understanding that life experiences can deeply impact the way we move in the world, interact with others, and view ourselves.
Kate draws from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Poly-vagal Theory and somatic therapies amongst other therapeutic approaches. She believes each person is the expert on their own self, and hopes to support you in understanding and empowering yourself to tackle challenges, foster healthy relationships and enjoy more well-being in life.
Kate cares deeply about advocacy and safety for vulnerable and marginalized groups, and is particularly proficient working with those identifying as neurodiverse and/or 2SLGBTQIA+. She prioritizes Indigenizing and de-colonializing her counselling approach, embracing that this is a lifelong learning process.
